Samsung Internet now lets you move the URL bar down
With the ever increasing size of smartphone screens, it is now more convenient for users to have the URL bar at the bottom rather than reaching upwards. We are seeing some OEMs already doing this with their built-in browsers and now Samsung is following suit. The stable version of the Samsung Internet Browser, version 188.8.131.52, now offers users the ability to move the URL address bar to the bottom of the screen among other minor updates.
Windows and Apple have already adapted the option of having the URL bar at the bottom and now Samsung Internet users will be able to do this as well, according to MS Power User. It is for users who are more comfortable with one-handed use of their device. When using both hands, the usual position of the address bar is pretty decent, but at least now you have the option of moving it down so that you don’t perform acrobatics with your fingers.
Other updates shown in the changelog include HTTPS priority connection which gives more priority to web pages with a secure connection and blocks invisible image tracking or “tracking pixel”, the new evolution of Smart Anti -Tracking. You’ll also get an improved search experience because your search suggestions are better organized to make it easier for you to understand what you’re looking for. These are minor but still important updates if Samsung Internet is your browser of choice.
But of course the highlight is the ability to move the URL bar around. It has already been spotted in the beta and may have already been tried by other users. Go to your browser settings and to the Layout and menu section. You now have two options to choose from, top and bottom. You still have the other toggle options, like hide status bar, show bookmarks bar, or tab bar. There are also a few options to customize the menu.
Samsung Internet might not be as popular as Chrome or Firefox, but some Samsung users still prefer to use it on their devices. Other Android devices can also use the browser by downloading it from the Google Play Store.
