URL Reveals Murda Mook Is No Longer Part Of The Drake Collab Event

Murda Mook had to withdraw from the event after his two initial opponents failed to agree on terms, leaving him without enough time to prepare.

URL has announced that Murda Mook will no longer be wrestling for the upcoming SMACK/URL X OVO event, “Til Death Do Us Part”.

Drake hand-picked the card he revealed while dropping a teaser trailer on Instagram over the weekend.

The line-up is stacked with “dream matches” and Battle Rap Mount Rushmore contestant Murda Mook’s pairing with Philly’s Eazy the Block Captain was one of the most anticipated.

The Ultimate Rap League released a statement explaining, “Despite URL, Drake and Mook’s exhaustive efforts to bring the god-level emcee back to the stage once again in 2021, the stars have failed to align. ”

The statement went on to note that Harlem legend Mook “did everything in his power to live up to his fans, but during the negotiation of the battle, several incidents occurred to ensure him a viable adversary”.

They revealed that Mook’s initial opponent ‘reneged on his verbal agreement’ and that although ‘rising star ‘Eazy’ took up the challenge, not all parties in good conscience could go ahead’.

URL assured fans of their commitment to giving “the best in culture”. All fighters must have the opportunity to perform at their best to play on such a “high caliber” map.

The statement concluded by affirming the URL’s commitment to “preserving the integrity of sport”.

The Dot Mob founding member took to his IG to put a different spin on the situation, revealing to fans why he won’t be on the card.

I understand fans aren’t wired to care about the pain and hard work behind the scenes. Day after day. Desperate efforts to perfect our craft to create ALL NEW material for all of you. Material that we have no way of knowing for sure whether it will transmit well or not. I understand that “perfection” can be a lot of gold at the end of a rainbow, but nonetheless, I ALWAYS strive and push myself beyond my previous constraints to, if nothing else , the constant evolution of THIS CULTURE! . …I had TWO entire meticulously crafted series already written for someone who agreed to This battle some time BEFORE ME AND REED! Hum! I’m not sure what caused the sudden change of heart and I don’t care to find out! I found out literally 3 days ago that this happened! Tried to “play the game” for my fans by accepting a battle with @eazyblockcapt1 because I didn’t want to disappoint (Fans and Hecklers lol). The same day you all saw the trailer is the same day I was made aware. My previous opponent backed off. As much as my warrior instinct is the reason for my success. It can also be an obstacle. So, with a day of reflection, I came to the conclusion that 2.5 weeks to recalibrate was just too short. with all that has been said, i hope what i do for this culture will one day be told by those who really know!!!!!!!! until then………YOU KNOW I GOOD????? 🤣😈😈😈😈 #FUCKTYPOS #FROMTHEART #THEBADGUY

Following the revelation that Mook would not be fighting Eazy, a host of big names came forward as a potential replacement, despite the short notice. With just two and a half weeks to go, it may be too late to find an opponent for Eazy. However, one of those up to the challenge is Queens rapper DNA.

Eazy The Block Captain hopped on Instagram Live with DNA after the call and accepted the match. However, the decision is up to Drake and SMACK/URL, so fans will have to wait and see if that happens.

Brizz Rawsteen, who was originally scheduled to fight Mook, has not released an official statement. He did, however, respond to URL on Twitter.

“Now it’s 100,000!” .. #Dark side

He also retweeted a fan’s response to the cancellation, apparently driven by the fact that (legend or not) a lot of people don’t care to see Mook fight again.

I haven’t seen a single person disappointed that Mook doesn’t fight 😂😂

In a recent video about the cancellation, blogger Vada Fly said he spoke to the NC/Delaware rapper about the statement and revealed he wasn’t happy because he felt the league “the had thrown under the bus”.

Luckily, although Mook can’t appear on the card, the event is packed with electrifying matchups and is dubbed “the greatest rap fight card of all time.”

Drake and the Harlem legend go back a long way, the Canadian rapper once hinted that he would step into the ring with Mook.
